Bookbinding with Cath Ray
Create a Keepsake Album - March 10th 2019 - Sunday 10 - 4
It is with great excitement we welcome Cath Ray back to Hope & Elvis in 2019
Cath’s Books are made entirely by hand in response to the materials which find their way into her Nottinghamshire studio. Cath uses old or reclaimed leather and natural materials that might otherwise be discarded. This means that a Cath Ray Book may have once been a dining chair seat, handbag with a broken strap, leather jacket or slate roof tile.
I am a huge fan of Cath’s beautiful books and have a few in my collection, but the chance to make a book with Cath is very exciting indeed!
You will be given the chance to create a unique album for a special occasion, or to keep treasured photographs, letters, or tickets, scraps, etc. Cath will demonstrate various bookbinding techniques and guide you through folding or stitching pages and creating a binding so that you can make a bespoke album to contain your selected treasures. Advice will be given on sequencing and attaching contents and making pouches, pockets and envelopes. People are encouraged to bring patterned paper/old leather/natural fabrics for the cover, which have fond memories or relevance, but all materials will be provided if required.
£85 including all Materials and a 2-course lunch 10am-4pm
All bookings are subject to our Workshop Booking Terms and Conditions
