Fabric Recipes with Jayne Emerson - 23rd May 2020 -
Jayne Emerson has been creating experimental textile designs for over twenty years. Her work has sold to clients ranging from Chanel and Dior to household names including John Lewis and Boden. *(She has also written six craft books and taught Kirstie Allsopp how to needle felt on the telly!)
In this workshop you will explore the possibilities of machine embroidery, applique, 'no rules' patchwork and embellishing. Jayne will demo all these techniques so if you are new to any or all of them please do not worry! You will be given permission to play, break the rules and embrace happy accidents as well as being encouraged to mix techniques and use unexpected fabric combinations.
Jayne will bring along her stash of colour coded vintage and reclaimed textiles, her embellisher machines and an archive of inspirational swatches. This will be a process driven workshop but you may well want to frame some of your swatches afterwards, incorporate them into your own work or just keep them in a sketchbook for reference. Whatever you choose you will have gained a whole new way of looking at found fabrics!
