Illustrated WAX tote project with Lisa Stickley - 25th & 26th April 2020

Lisa Stickley is an award winning designer, author and illustrator who started out life as a printed textile designer, training at Central Saint Martins and The Royal College of Art.  She is also a devoted lover of cabbage and marshmallows – although not necessarily at the same time!
Soon after graduation in 1999 - from her bedroom back home - she founded her label Lisa Stickley and sold some of her very first products to Paul Smith, Designers Guild and the Cross. Her distinctive work led to collaborations worldwide with Burberry, Harrods, Liberty, Tate, Selfridges, Heals, John Lewis, Boots, Debenhams and Japanese stores including Ships, Hankyu & Isetan.

Illustrated WAX tote project

Join Lisa Stickley to create your own waxed tote bag. A two day course where we will explore the art of mixed media illustration to create your own individual artwork. Then learn how to translate these images onto cloth and to transform them into a hardwearing, hand-waxed tote bag, complete with leather handles.

On day one we will work on still life drawings of flora & fauna exploring gouache, oil pastel, pencil and collage.

On day two with printed fabric in true ‘here’s one I made earlier’ style for teaching purposes, you will hand wax the cloth, and then learn how to cut, stitch, trim and rivet a bag to take home. On completing the workshop you’ll be armed with all the tools you need to make an Illustrated Tote of your own design.

£185 including all materials and 2 course lunch - 2 day workshop 10am-4pm
