Mixed Media Textured Textile Book with Sue Brown 28th & 29th March 2020 -
SUE BROWN: MA
Sue Brown is an artist who uses printmaking and mixed media to tell stories.
Inspired by process as much as nature, her work springs from the pages of sketchbooks, and develops carefully researched themes, exploring and developing them on paper and textiles.
Sue has been an artist for over 20 years and is inspired by all things ornithological, particularly fascinated by the antics of corvids and our relationship with the feathered visitors to her urban garden. Entomological museum collections also feature in her work and
Sue has recently become intrigued with printmaking onto fabrics and vintage textiles.
Driven by the need to learn new processes and collect techniques to keep her practice fresh, Sue continues to explore our natural world.
Mixed Media Textured Textile Book
Create a set of textile books containing experimental techniques used in Sue’s signature sketch book workshop…but with a twist.
Stencils, monoprinting, gum arabic transfer print with a touch of stitch combined with loads of experimentation will get the creative juices flowing.
It is time to get those snippets out of your stash to incorporate into a complete piece.
Bring black and white photocopies (not inkjet or greyscale). A stash of fabric snippets, pre loved, embroidered, velvet, blanket etc. Your favourite stamps, stencils and textured wall paper. . But please do not get anything especially for the workshop as I will have everything you need to make a couple of successful books.
This workshop is suitable for creatives wanting to extend their techniques.
